I 100% disagree with you as the big difference in pirating and renting/buying used is that money is still transfering hands and that allows the original purchaser to buy another new game. Thus, while renting/buying used is not as desirable to devs as everyone buying their own unique copy, its still not theft and in the long run the devs still profit something.

but the developers don't get any of the money in that transaction and I could ague that pirates illegally downloading a game allows the pirate to spend their money on other games, see it doesn't work like that and most businesses that rent out games don't give the developers anything other than the money for the original copy some publishers have tried suing them for profiting off their property.

Here you go, I'm generous so I'm giving you a free game.

*gives* *you take*

Did you steal? Where was my compensation? Was there CONSENT?

You're hammering this point about compensation, but renting both includes compensation and consent. The lenders pay for the right to lend the creator's game, with their consent. So even that argument fails.
