No, it's not new. Maybe the power up you have to get to make you invincible is a little different, but becoming invincible and producing those rainbow shadows after grabbing a star is not new in SMG.

The new things of that trailer I think were the galaxy map and rock suit

Yeah, I think I forgot. I've been so focused on my backlog that I barely remember any details about Super Mario Galaxy. I really need to finish that game, Pronto.
