My last post didn't mention the wii latency, so how did you conclude I'm harping on about it?!
And what initial reports saying Move's latency is worse than the wiis??? Firstly that means you have an exact figure for wii's latency, which you don't have, and secondly, Sony have said the latency is 22ms, but with everything else included, it can reach 130ms as reported by DF on a tech demo. But that's a tech demo, not the final product, unless you're from the future.

And stop digressing like you have OCD. You totally ignored how I said that the wii games haven't done anything for this generation, and you've just written a load of made up BS. Now if you will, how about you actually tell me how the wii games have changed game genres or is it just "LOL moving pad is FUNZ!"?

To put it basically, pointing is more accurate, precise and natural. As a parallel, the Wiimote has more lag than the PS3 pad, but there's no doubt that you can point and shoot at opponents far more quickly in the Wii rendition of Call of Duty 4, for example.

And that's changed the genre how?!?! It's no different to the goddamn mouse & keyboard vs pad argument. Come back with some real game defining changes please, or has the wii done nothing for games?

Not to mention how many buttons can you NOT press with the wii remote, and how much is it for a full pad, £70?

If you were serious gamer you would want to be able to kill as many as possible as fast as possible as accurate as possible and the wiimote ptovides just that, I guess you are not a serious gamer and only a graphics whore then?

Also if youre having big problems with lag with your wiiremote then there is something else that is interfering with your wii mote (if you have one?).

I’m just beginning to play with the Wiimote as an input device for accessible games so I tried shaking it in time with some music using a little program I already had in place. The accelerometer data seemed very delayed so I decided to check out its latency. My initial experiments described below indicate that it is very low.

 

I’m running Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon and using a IOdata Bluetooth adapter along with the cwiid driver and python wrapper. I wrote a little script (latency.py) to experiment with it. The script uses pygame to capture and record the times of keyboard events, mouse motion events, mouse button events, and wiimote button and accelerometer events. I write simple records to a text file indicating the time, type of event, and any event data.

In the first experiment I banged the wiimote into my finger so that the A button was pressed. Hitting my finger should produce a spike in acceleration along with the button hit. The data supports this with the peak in acceleration happening within 10 milliseconds of the time reported for the button hit. That says there is no significant time difference between the buttons and the accelerometers on the wiimote.

In the second experiment I banged the wiimote into a mouse button. Previous experiments had convinced me that mouse events have low latency to pygame. In this case the peak in acceleration occurs slightly before the mouse button event so the delay of the wiimote is less than the delay of the mouse.

Now to figure out what is causing the apparent delay in my other program.
