Yeah if Nintendo offer a different gaming experience, far enough, but by 'gaming' on the wii they show they are not bothered about a high quality gaming experience, and therefore wont look into buying a console for another game. They bought the wii because the motion control looked fun, not that "Holy ****, they have a new Super Marios Brothers/Smash/Mario Karts out!", but "Hey, the motion pad looks fun".They are not going to by a new console if it offers the same experience as a different game, better graphics would still offer the same: "Hey, the motion pad looks fun, but I've already got one, no need for another", unlike a gamer who thinks "Wow, those graphics are ace! The gameplay is so much better! That AI is outstanding!". |
actually, many people are doing just that. women bought the wii just for wii fit. tons of people bought the wii just for mario kart. lapsed gamers are buying the wii just for new super mario bros wii. i know several people that plan on buying a wii just for monster hunter tri.
and that is what i mean. people will buy a new console if it has exclusives they want that aren't on other consoles. i agree with happysquerral on this, where he brings up that people just care about the games, not the tech behind those games that made them possible.
come try out the computer game i've been working on for my high school senior project, titled sling ball. http://vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=76669&page=1
you can view a few screenshots from the game in my photo album here; http://www.vgchartz.com/photos/album.php?album=2312
