How about because the new system offers game-play that isn't possible on the Wii? Or how about because the new system has several exclusive games that these gamers want that aren’t available for the Wii? A gamer doesn’t have to care about graphics to be interested in 6 player split-screen Mario Kart; they don’t have to care about the processing power that makes the new features in their favourite games possible; they don't have to care that advanced hardware was required to implement the new user-interface that they're excited about; and a gamer doesn’t need to care about anything beyond the fact that the new "Wii Fit" (or whatever) is entirely exclusive to Nintendo’s new system. Or to put it another way, just because Sony and Microsoft have been unable to draw these gamers interest with how they use advanced processing power doesn’t mean that Nintendo can’t. |
Yeah if Nintendo offer a different gaming experience, far enough, but by 'gaming' on the wii they show they are not bothered about a high quality gaming experience, and therefore wont look into buying a console for another game. They bought the wii because the motion control looked fun, not that "Holy ****, they have a new Super Marios Brothers/Smash/Mario Karts out!", but "Hey, the motion pad looks fun".They are not going to by a new console if it offers the same experience as a different game, better graphics would still offer the same: "Hey, the motion pad looks fun, but I've already got one, no need for another", unlike a gamer who thinks "Wow, those graphics are ace! The gameplay is so much better! That AI is outstanding!".
