Why do you have to stop within the visible light section of the electromagnetic spectrum? If I could control light, then I would rarely use visible frequencies.
I would be shooting microwaves at my enemies to kill them (by cancer, I guess),
I would then cure good people of cancer by using gamma rays to give them chemotherapy,
I would see through things by firing X-rays at them (although in practice I doubt it works),
I would screw around with people TV signals by emitting random radio waves,
I would cook all my food by firing micro waves at it,
I would screw about with top secret government communications.
