There were wireless controllers for the NES, so the PS1 controller definitely wasn't first. Hell, while not totally wireless, Nintendo did make the NES Sattelite, allowing you to put your controller ports whereever, usually closer to you. (And it added 4-player support, but that's another topic. I will say now that no, Nintendo was not first at that.)
