What I find ironic, they can't win for losing. First it was: "why should I pay $600 for features I won't need/use"? Now it's: "Oh, they keep taking out features, why should I even buy a PS3 now"?

Had this been a feature that was useful, such as the PS2 BC, I would understand the ranting, though I can pretty much guess and understand the other side of it as well. But with internet security constantly in question, if they're trying to protect their goods, I don't give a damn what was said 1 month, 2 months, 3 months ago, I'm not against that, nor am I against it if it's allowing for better use of other functions within the system, which is a possiblity as well.

@ But that's the thing. They aren't taking it out to make it cheaper. They're taking it out of consoles that have already been released. People that have already paid for the feature.

As I said earlier this won't affect most PS3 users but to take out an existing feature of console is a seriously bad precedent. In general I'm not happy when a manufacturer strips features out of a console. However this is the first time that I can recall, that a manufacturer is removing a feature from existing consoles. All other instances I can thing of and updated model lacked the feature of prior model. For example, the later versions of he Game Gear lacked TV tuner support, the later versions of the Gamecube didn't have component cable compatibility, newer models of the PS3 lacked PS2 BC and card readers. In all these instances, when the consumer bought those consoles they lacked the features. They weren't removed after purchase.
