They are pretty bad, but that extra step doesn't make it a huge deal, or at least as big as PC games.  It's beyond simple to pirate a PC game, it's at least requires a few more steps to pirate the console/handheld games.

Yeah true, Wii/PSP need firmware hacks and with DS you need to buy a card.  Still, it's pretty widespread, as bad as PS1/DC pirating was imo.
