Ok, my dad lives by the motto "If it ain't broke, fix it", and he can't sit down for a second.

He had a couple of days off work this week and he has to "fix" things around the house. He decided to turn his attention to our internet (which has worked pretty well up until he decided to tinker with it to get more out of it). It's like that scene from Father Ted where he tries to hammer out the small bump in his car, but ends up trying to fix it so much that he completely destroys it.

Anyway, long story short, after having to repair much of the damage he has caused by trying to "fix" it I have one problem left... The Playstation 3.

Whenever I go online with the Playstation 3 it knocks off something else from our network, the reason? it is trying to the same IP address as something else. We never used to have this problem either, which is odd.

I think I need to turn off our DCHP and assign the Playstation 3 a static IP address. But the Playstation 3 doesn't seem to like static IP addresses, every time I set one up it just plain refuses to connect to the Internet.

Has anyone else experienced this problem or thinks they can help? If so, your input would be much appreciated.

Thank you in advance.
