While there is probably a small market of people who would be highly interested in a portable system that played 3D movies, and most people might use the feature a couple of times, I don’t really see it as being something Nintendo would focus on. With that said, I wouldn’t be that surprised if Nintendo has strategic partnerships with a variety of companies that have a different focus than Nintendo does; and one of them (possibly someone like Netflix) might be looking to create a service to deliver 3D movies to the 3DS.
