Eh, that's hardly the fault of the Chozo. :P
Still, they set up the place as their sacred sanctuary, and some entries into the Chozo Lore even say exactly why they're doing it.
Now you know, so you can focus on other things.
Try Metroid Prime 3. Really. It may suit your mood better.
