The Wii seriously needs demoes...

No I do not. 3 of my 4 current Wii games are from Nintendo, and the only one that has really entertained me is the one that isn't from Nintendo. Go figure.

Well, you didn't buy any of their main games besides metroid prime trilogy. So why complain? Wii sports was free and if you don't like that one you shouldn't have bought wii sports resort.

No, because they're expensive, which is why I need demoes. I can't tell from gameplay videos if I will like SSBB for example. It's a mess to look at, which is why I need a demo!

And tastes differ, not everyone likes the same thing. But if I'm playing a singleplayer game, I need something to keep me going, which can be a) great gameplay or b) great story. A great atmosphere helps too. I'm about 3 hours into Metroid Prime, and I have found none of those, and I'm really having a hard time wanting to go on. It's just not catching on.

Metroid prime games have two of those things(they're famous for their gameplay and atmosphere). Actually it also has great story if you read the scans. The whole Luminoth vs Ing thing was one of the best story-lines I've seen in a video-game. I know tastes differ, but you can really tell if you're going to love or hate metroid prime games by gameplay vids. You're right about SSBB though, I took the risk and have clocked over 100 hours on it now. It's my least favorite wii game though besides the conduit(I only own AAA games on my Wii, so it's still an amazing game).

 

Ps: Don't ever buy the conduit, it's horrible. 

And that's why I picked it up, but I'm honestly having a hard time seeing it.

The exploration is pretty overwhelming and confusing at times without ever being great, the shooting is nothing out of the ordinary (and I hate it when the pointer goes offscreen and you have to wait for the Wii to see it again), and the rolling is like walking, except slightly faster.

And I find the world to be pretty average and unexciting so far. It's just obvious that it's a videogame world, it's designed to be traversed by Samus and no one else, the enemies are stupid and have their basic patterns that are easy to see and they will respawn at exactly the same places if you reenter a room. That whole thing about being designed as a videogame world just ruins the immersion for me in a game like Metroid Prime, and makes the experience unexciting.

On top of all that, there is are design decisions that simply annoy me. I hate protagonists that you are supposed to immerse yourself into being (Half-Life 2, Bioshock, Metroid Prime, etc.), it doesn't work for me! That's another thing that ruins immersion for me! And who the hell designs a game without checkpoints?!

I think I'll get it at some point, but regardless, I need to get my Wii online first.

I think prime 3 has some checkpoints at bosses, but checkpoints make a game way too easy anyway. The only time you'll be dieing is against bosses.

You do know prime 1 is 10 years old, right? Pointer never goes offscreen for me, so wouldn't know what causes that with you. Prime games are about exploration and shooting isn't really important.

But I'll check through your game collection in a moment and I'll see if I can suggest you something(I've played pretty much every wii game that is considered good. That's the next best thing besides demo's I guess lol.

Zelda and Okami seem like an obvious pick if you like single player games, but then again, you don't like to immerse yourself into the protagonist(I actually love that :P)

And I see you want your wii online. Mario kart wii is still the best online experience on the wii.

Ps: Perhaps unethical, but you could also download your games and buy them if you like them. That way you cause no harm to the industry. I suppose...
