and LKS story was their highest selling published game if i'm not mistaken, on par with RFF. Cing went ouf of business. If you still think they made money, well i'm gonna start my own publishing company, because according to you the break-even point on Wii games is unrealistically LOW. |
Cing went into bankruptcy (not out of business, small clarification) because they couldn't keep on schedule. Their last release (Again for Tecmo) ran over a year behind what was planned. Their games actually sold well considering the team's size, the problem was they'd always go far off schedule (and as a result far over budget).
And XSEED is wholly owned by AQ Interactive, which is funded chiefly by ex-Sega president Hayao Nakayama. They have little overhead, they coordinate chiefly with external localization groups, their promotional costs are basically nothing... unlike Marvelous or Nippon Ichi, they're nowhere near the verge of going out of business. ;)
Anyway, 28k 1st week is actually great for a game like Fragile Dreams, and if I'm not mistaken is actually the best we've seen for XSEED this generation on any platform. In fact, the only XSEED game to ever do better 1st week was Wild Arms 5 on PS2, part of a long running and popular series, and it only did 29k.
