Reggie actually spoke of three things depending on the questions asked him in interviews. One was being flattered as well. Another was Nintendo would be embarrased if they copied that blatantly. Unfortunately I can't remember the third thing.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
