Great read Zucas, I agree.

Sony has been caught off guard one must presume with this announcement, and if 3D was not in their plans for the next handheld, I doubt they will be able to incorporate it quickly enough to have it ready by E3. Plus Nintendo did it first, and that's what counts. They got all the industry talking about them, if Sony manages to incorporate 3D into their next handheld by the time E3 arrives, they will not have the SW ready anyways and the industry will not care. Nintendo has already differentiated themselves from the rest with this announcement and they will be the 1st ones to launch a next gen portable. Success is imminent, and I think that we haven't been getting many 1st party announcements for the DS for a long while now because they were making the launch SW for the 3DS, which includes a new Pokemon.

My biggest worry from this matter is if Nintendo will forget about the Wii after 2010 ends and all their resources will go to the 3DS or if things will continue like they have. I think that we will see the last wave of Wii games announced at this E3. We could have a Wii successor showcased at E3 2011, so they will need time to make SW for it.

Thank you.  I also hope that Nintendo doesn't forget Wii after this, but I think they know how to successfully run to sides of the business.  I'm just hoping they'll make cross DS/3DS games and give both support.  They still have a very large DS base they need to support.  So not as much worried as Wii as I am with maintaining strong support for the DS too.

I also think that success on the "3DS" won't be too hard.  Although I do give DS's features and strong lineup credit for its success, I still think the main reason is that Nintendo brand which is the strongest in the handheld market.  People don't go to buy a handheld, they go to buy a Nintendo handheld.  "3DS" will have similar appeal, as long as the new features work properly which know Nintendo should be no issue.  It's just how innovative and strong they push the "3DS" will determine if it can imitate the success of the DS.
