I don't see why that had to be brought up in the first place (inFAMOUS & Killzone 2 sales). They have 0 to do with how God of War III performed.

For the same reason FFXIII and Heavy Rain "had to be brought up".  To illustrate how well Sony's been doing recently and what a turnaround it's been for them.
