3DS IS the Japanese gaming future ... not consoles. It would also quite nicely solve S-E's dilemma about a FF7 Remake costing too much money on the HD consoles ... if the 3DS is about GameCube level hardware, it would be much cheaper to produce and sell just as much if not more and still offer a large visual upgrade from the PSOne original, along with the whole 3D buzz. 

This system is going to get tons of primo Japanese 3rd party support.
