Having the VS does not mean the game will be easy until you get stressed so it can get harder.
Imagine you playing a horror game and nothing happens but you expect things to happen any moment. You get stressed and the music ramps up and makes you stress even more and then it stops and you start to calm down. But then something happens and you get attacked and depending on how scared you are the enemy will behave differently..
