| binary solo said: Reggie talking smack about PS Move is good for the PS Move. It means they're worried. The worst sign for Move's potential would be if Nintendo completely ignored it. Reggie should chose his words more carefully though. Saying Move does basically the same thing as Wii means PS3 owners can say to themselves "so I don't need to think about getting a Wii any more." And people yet to get into this generation can say. "Cool, I can get excellent HD games AND Wiimote style games all in one package" *does the maths* "Yep and it'll be cheaper overall to get PS3+Move than to get PS3 + Wii" Exciting software? He obviously hasn't seen that Endgadget tech demo. That looks SWEET! He's 100% correct. It'll come down to the games and other software applications. I think any fair minded person will acknowledge that Sony 1st party studios make some pretty good games. And 2nd and 3rd parties have done some pretty good work on Sony systems too (including PS3 + 360). He's right to be worried about Sony's 1st party studios putting a decent amount of resource behind Move development, because the talent is unquestionably there there. And that's why Reggie feels the need to go on the offensive against PS Move. |
You cannot infer from Reggies statements here about the prospects of the PS Move by his reaction to it. In addition to this, I bet he is about 10* more concerned with what the Wii audience thinks and what his potential audience thinks than the <25% of the market which owns a PS3 might think. Hes not going after a fraction of a fraction of PS3 users who might be interested in the Wii when his company has bigger markets still not yet fully tapped out.
Yes Sony have some pretty great game studios, but do they have the potential to bring out Wii X games which capture the mass markets attention, especially when Sony have to split their time between normal and Move control schemes? At this point without proof of Sony diverting even 33% of their resources to Move related projects he has little to worry about.
Tease.
