A good straight razor lasts a few generations, so you definatey do save some money there. Even if you go the expensive Feather Classic disposable route, your looking at maybe $20-25 a year in razors plus the shaver itself ($150). But you get a significantly better shave. I have a very coarse beard (at 16, I had a full beard about 3-4" long), so I go through a lot of shaving supplies, and a straight razor saves me major money - I've gone the electric route ($20 a cartridge, not close shave), disposable, cartridge, and the best I know of is simply the old-school route. I'm torn between a Hart Classic (forged in the US) and a Feather disposable (made in Japan)...Both are around $150-$250, but are supposed to be the best of the best. Oh, and I would say that you can certainly mess yourself up if you don't take shaving seriously. I cut myself for the first time 2 days ago, because I moved the razor horizontally, and got a 5" cut on my face, Shepard in ME2. Not a very deep cut (unless your intentionally doing something, any cut is very shallow), but it was a stupid mistake by myself. |
