You mean my opinion being contrary to other's is discrediting my post? I do think companies like blizzard or valve are capable of doing it too. This thread is about first party however, and for me, the only company that can say "let's make a fun game" and actually make it 100% of the time is N. The others think more like "what will sell to mature audience?" "oh yeah, let's have kratos rip a head off!" or "let's put 1000 cars, even though it'll delay the game for 6 years and people will barely ever use half of them, the fact that we have 1000 and others don't will make us sell more". It's not the correct mindset and as was proven this gen, what really sells anyways is in fact the funfactor. |
No, I mean that you should rephrase it because it is a trollish comment. What you said was basically that Sony and Microsoft can't set out to create a fun game and succeed, and the only thing preventing you from being 100% wrong is that fun is subjective.
What you are saying now is however different from what you said initially, and is something I can agree more with (though not entirely as again, fun is very much subjective).
I have to disagree with the last one though. Again, fun is subjective, and if every game made was a Nintendo game, gaming would probably become pretty boring. But if you think the funfactor that you see in Nintendo games is the only thing people want, then you are oh so wrong.
God of War 3 for example, is an exhilerating thrillride that keeps you on your toes and makes you crave for more when you play through it. That's why it's set to sell as much as 1.4 million copies in its first week (according to ioi), because it is awesome and fun, even if it is different from a Nintendo game. Gran Turismo 5 is going to sell millions to car enthusiasts out there who can get to play a realistic racing simulator with a greater scope than anything else on the market. How will they ever get that from Nintendo? And even if the game should have been out earlier, are you ready to say that the people who bought previous games in the series didn't have fun with it?
Just because you don't see the fun in it doesn't mean others don't.
