So, basically, YOU don't enjoy Westwood style RTS games, so that means that nobody should. Nice logic. Fortunately, I don't come to this forum for blind affirmation unlike some people (apparently). So your comment is already forgotten.
Now on to some discussion...
The original C&C brought so much innovation to the game that you can't fathom it unless you were around before it existed - Dune 2 was good, but C&C improved on it in every way. Plus, the soundtrack to C&C 1 is still holds up today - even if the graphics don't.
As for your dislike of Red Alert, well, to each their own. I enjoy the frenetic, large scale for battles at which SC excels. In fact, I dislike the small squad missions in both Starcraft and C&C - I got enough of that with Cannon Fodder (anyone remember that?).
