The PS3 lately has been seeing some rather impressive software sales (the most impressive it's had in its entire life cycle) lately, topping out the WII (with the inclusion of 200k+ wii sports sales) and the XBOX 360, despite having 5 million less consoles on the market than the 360, and despite having less than HALF the install base of the wii..
Interestingly enough, SOFTWARE sales should literally explode, well above 3 million potentially hitting 4 million this upcoming week. The ps3 has 2 huge GAME releases, yes 2.
YAKUZA 4 releases in japan, it should break 400k its first week, and GOD OF WAR III launches worldwide, and this game should sell well about a million copies its first week.
In addition to those two games, the PS3 should continue to have very high selling games including BATTLE FIELD BC 2, Heavy Rain, and the recent western release of Final Fantasy XIII.
As for hardware sales, SONY should see s SIGNIFICANT boost in HW sales in japan, I suspect the system may break 40k there, and a slight boost in the americas for GOW III due to shortages. Will it outsell the wii? I doubt it, considering the fact WII has been getting a considerate amount of stock compared to the last couple of weeks, on online retailers, but the PS3 continues to get scarce amounts of stock.
