| LordTheNightKnight said: "Final Fantasy simply is the biggest JRPG franchise in the West that isn't pokemon (which is really hard to classify as a JRPG or WRPG since it lacks a lot of the distinct characteristics of both)" Doesn't it sell better than even western RPGs? I mean, the bestselling I can think of are Oblivion and Fallout 3, but if I missed some, please let me know. As for all the comments, it seems the general idea is this showing how much the FPS market has grown this generation, while the RPG market isn't that hot right now. |
Depends on the genre of RPG. If we're taking mmorpgs into account wow has sold more then any Final Fantasy ever released. Diablo 2 had sold 4 million by 2001 and we all know Blizzard games have great legs so its sales (this is speculation) would probably be challening FF sales by now. But yes unless we're taking a game like Oblivion (which sells well on many platforms) into account then yes FF outside of Pokemon sells better then most Western RPGs worldwide. Though this wont last forever as the WRPG genre is selling better and better seemingly each year. Diablo 3 for example should be absolutely massive and probably do better then 2 did.
