What can save the PSP marketshare wise?

It's not like PSP's the first successful non-Nintendo handheld.  It's sold a lot, gotten decent marketsare, attracted decent support, likely made good profit, and ultimately failed to make *any* real impact on Nintendo.  Sounds like Game Gear or WonderSwan to me.

If you consider the iPhone/iPod touch it may not even be true.

True.  Apple's actually the one who's done what none could previously in the handheld space; impact Nintendo.   Sony couldn't, just like Sega, Atari, Bandai, SNK, NEC, Nokia, NTT DoCoMo, Microsoft, KDDI and plenty of others.
