Actually "Λ"(Lambda) is the first letter of the word Lakedaimon/Lakonia aka Spartan/Sparta.
It's a symbol the Spartan Army used in their shields.
"β"(beta) is "two" as far as I know...Since when does "Λ" means "two" in Greek?
