 well I'm also including  their games, I mean halo 3 was literally printing money for them.

 Halo 3 was very good for MS. They probably made a lot of money with it but it's not like Windows/Office where it keeps selling over and over. Halo 3 sales, like all game sales, degrade very fast with time.
