Honestly, I see this in the same league as Microsoft paying developers for exclusives. Nintendo is doing this to make sure that their gaming machine a game release. Not to mention it helps improve relations with Tecmo-Koei even more. First with Metroid: Other M and now with Samurai Warriors 3. Nintendo let them use one of their popular franchises and Koei lets Nintendo have one of their franchises on their system. More work on the developer part but getting their hands on the Metroid license, that has worldwide popularity, and Nintendo publishing both games? What 3rd party developer would say 'no' to that? That's making easy money, which business loves.
