Nope, the OP is right.
Unless there is some killer app (like wii fit) that literally forces the 30m users to want Natal/Move (and that's a big if) they will be far less than 20% of the userbase and do absolutley nothing for the overall product.
MS/Sony really needed to wait for the next gen to introduce motion of their own. 97% of games that are going to have support for Natal/Move will also have standard controls and that is what the greater majority of existing gamers will be happy with. Wii was successful because the standard controller was the wiimote.
However, I think there is a small chance PS3 can still catch 360 in the long run IF it last on the market at least a year longer than the 360 does.
