OK, serious question: Why do the mods keep banning people en masse for the most negligible of infractions, and for weeks at a time? Not every dissenting opinion is "trolling". On the contrary, disagreements often provide food for thought. I think it's quite detrimental to the quality of conversation in this forum; unless of course the objective is to create a kindergarten-like atmosphere and drive away intelligent posters with strong convictions.
I think the current system needs a serious overhaul; at the very least the ban length shouldn't automatically double each time someone is temp-banned.
