Nintendo played a fair game and won. No shenanigans, no underhanded dealings, no pressure on publishers. They won fair and square and noone can come back next generation and say that Nintendo didn't earn their keep in this one or that they were anti-competitive, monopolistic or even negative to the competition. Why defend companies which do all of the above?
