Then how is a natural, logical progression towards virtual reality any different? Ahh yes. Nintendo released it, so it's some undiscovered gem. Games have always tried to place you in the middle of the action. Making some waggle wand doesn't magically scream innovation. The technology has been out there for quite some time. Nintendo makes me laugh. Suddenly everything they do is the gospel. Yet the N64-Gamecube years produced about a number of games you could count on two hands that were worthwhile entries. Wake me up when Nintendo physically 'invents' something worthwhile. |
Oh, please, no one claims they invented the technology, that's silly. They're just a videogame company after all. But they did use it in a meaningfull way that is/was actually unique and visionary in a way, and are the ones responsible for making it take off, and that's undeniable.
I won't talk about Natal, and you might try and find "excuses" for Move's forms, but really, take a look at the games. The games really are reason t be embarassed as they are shameless imitations of Nintendo's own games as far as we've seen, like carbon-copied not just inspired, now, that's kind hard to deny.
