Is it safe to say that ps2 style jrpgs (that I love the most, thank you) and FF are doomed? Sooner or later a brands reputation will stop selling the product and will need the product to actually be good. I think FF XIII being the only FF game to be considered bad might be ok for a while but the next FF must live up to it reputaion of past successes. With Fallout Vegas on the horizon and pepole still playing Fallout and western like type games. I think maybe we should be be getting ready to send flowers and cards to the jrpg/FF funeral hall. By the way, FF X-2 and FF XII are my favorite FF games and two of my all time favorite games

While I don't really like FFXII too much, FFX-2 is a very much under-appreciated gem. It is my second-favorite FF, and I place it above its prequel.
Anyway, sure FFXIII isn't getting the same, consistent scores as previous entries, but it is still scoring high nevertheless. I just purchased the game, and while I am thorougly enjoying it, I would say the mixed reviews are deserved as the linearity is an issue... as this isn't the linearity that Final Fantasy is known for... The linearity is very extreme and off-putting, but regardless, the charm of FFXIII battles away the issues and makes the game very easy to continue playing and very fun!
It also helps that the battle system is possibly the best in the series (although Materia and the Sphere Grid leveling are superior to the Crystarium).
