Slight correction but Trenton actually said "Playstation3 will be the only console you'll be able to play Final Fantasy XIV on when it launches in 2010".  That's not quite the same thing as console exclusive for all of 2010, it's a careful choice of words that state it'll be launch exclusive, but we don't know beyond that...

Read it again.  FFXIV launches in 2010, and when that happens, PS3 is the only console you'll be able to play it on. The 360 port could come a year later, a week later, or anytime really.

I assume it's coming in December, so no way another console will see it this year.

Isn't the beta this spring?  I can't imagine they'll wait half a year to launch unless some major issues creep up...

Halo has a beta this spring too, means nothing.

Halo's infamous for extended beta periods, it's far from the norm.

For a more relevant comparison...

  • Final Fantasy XI beta = Dec 21, 2001
  • Final Fantasy XI launch = May 16, 2002
  • Final Fantasy XIV beta = March 11, 2010 (!)
  • Final Fantasy XIV launch = ???
