Seven hours into the game, there are three things I don't like so far.
First, those teen characters are mostly annoying. Lighting has no self-confidence and loses her nerves, otherwise good, Snow is a bit worse than I though, and the rest are pretty much what I though. Sazh was a pleasant surprise though, he's much more mature than any other character yet. Hope was also a bit better. All in all, nothing new here, just those Japanese teen heroes.
Second, the game IS linear. Got a bit better after a couple of hours though, even though it's still linear. And third, too many cutscenes, in the beginning at least. That got a bit better recently as well.
Other than that, definitely seems better. Battle system feels slightly worse but sure it'll get better as battles get more challenging and my characters develop. But story and overall atmosphere are good so far, and I like the music. And the whole system, even with its minor flaws.
