Microsoft has:

  • Xbox Live -
  • Windows mobile 7 live integration (coming soon)
  • Games for Windows Live (yes its sucky but they are trying)
  • Live Pass (Messenger, some websites)
  • Zune Video service
  • Office Live (coming soon)

Sony has:

  • PSN on PS3
  • PSN on PSP
  • PSN on TVs (coming soon)
  • PSN on VAIO computers (coming soon)
  • PSN on phones (coming soon)
  • PSN on cameras/misc electronics (expected)

Only things of relevance are Live on xbox and PSN on PS, both heavly tied to gaming.

The rest is honestly irrelevent.  I dont care at all about PSN on anything but a gaming platform, and i'm a Sony fan.  Why would the average consumer ever care ?

The fact that you don't care doesn't matter really. Gaming is just one avenue for these services. The average consumer wants convenience, portability and transportability.

Do you know what its like to live on the far side of Uranus?
