Yes, exactly, it'd be quite worrisome if it wasn't. In fact, that EEDAR estimate seems conservative, if it was only up that much YoY so shortly after a $100 price cut and slim, PS3 would be in serious trouble, regardless of the one week boost given by KZ2*.

The reality is probably better. Vgchartz has the sales at ~300,000 for the period (Pachter looks like he reads the chartz). And there are shortages so sales could be a function of supply, but it would be surprising for Sony to have not produced enough supply for a flat month (Wii on the other hand burned through a stunning amount of stock in December).

 

These are vgchartz numbers for the month (including Canada etc.):

*Watch out for that Killzone 2 boost, it's HUGE!
