I've not bought much this year as I've been trying to make a dent in my backlog, and I've been flooded out of my home (fortunately, I can game on my laptop, and I've just taken the PS3 over to my temporary accomodation -- which has a 40" flatscreen; that'll do!). What I've bought so far this year is:
Psychonauts (PC): Only £1 on Steam. I've still to play it for more than 5 minutes. I will get there.
Mass Effect 2 (PC): The weak story (when compared to ME) and lack of gameplay options left me disappointed, but still a fine game for what it is. Completed it three times now. 8/10
Rome (Total War) + all expansions (PC): Got it in a sale as it was the only Total War game I didn't own on Steam. Well worth it. Awesome game. 9/10
Peggle (PSN): Not really that good, but by golly it sucks you in. Gaming crack. 7/10
Heavy Rain (PS3): Not as broad as I'd hoped, but still very good. 8/10
Vandal Hearts: Flames of Judgement (PSN): Exactly as I expected. I'm enjoying it for what it is. 5/10
Also, beyond games I've bought, I've also completed (or played a hell of a lot):
Mass Effect (PC): Third completion. One of the best stories in gaming. Truly awesome for all it is seriously flawed (and it looks unexpectedly great in 1080p at full settings, even though it's ageing a little). 9/10
Plants vs. Zombies (PC): Lovely game. 9/10
Plants vs. Zombies (iPod): Limited in comparison to the PC version, but a fraction of the price and more intuative to play. 9/10
Anno 1404 (PC): Utterly beautiful game that has sucked many hours from my life. 8/10
Also, this topic has reminded me I owe someone a letter. I have been woefully remiss.
