Oh and on a completely separate note, anyone who says smoking weed has no harmful effects is an idiot and/or in denial. I think I've posted in a previous thread some of the effects of smoking/consuming weed so I'm not going to do it again. Just look on any health site and they'll tell you all the effects like lung damage/disease and brain damage for starters.
I'm only in favour of legalizing it because I think that legalizing it will make it less of a "cool" thing to do. Also I'm in favour of making money and there's legal money to be had in marijuana sale. |

I'm not sure that some of the effects people associate with legalizing (certain) drugs will actually exist. The one I constantly hear is on increased tax revenue, but when you consider that in the USA the proceeds of crime can (and are) seized and this amounts to tens of billions of dollars a year from drug crimes I’m not sure that legal drug use will translate into higher tax revenues.

The tax revenues should come to local governments also not just the federal government. Cities and States need the revenue as well.
