Another thing that makes me mad about the subject is that because the drug is a class 1 restricted drug in the USA (with the likes of herion, meth amphetamine, lsd and extacy)/MDMA). Research is hardly ever funded to actually look at what medical benifits might actually be. Research is also severly restricted in term of the short termn and long term effects of actually using the drug itself.
Other countries are making up somewhat for the US's failed policies, yet anytime you inhibit research in the US your essentially inhibiting the country itself, and the rest of world moves ahead. This is similar to stem cell research in my opinion, but I do not want to get off topic.
