Are you saying that's not right?  What do you think it should be? 
IMO "echo" makes sense both as straight reading and as a pun on echolocation, i.e. animal sonar, which dolphins use. 

It's wrong to pronounce it like Echo, it's eh-coh, not ee-coh
For anyone that can read Japanese, it's spelled  エコー・ザ・ドルフィン

Since the Japanese "e" is pronounced "eh" ("i" is "ee"), clearly it's pronounced essentially the same way I pronounce "echo" except with a drawn-out "o" sound. 

In fact, you also say it's "eh coh", and yet you somehow think this makes it NOT pronounced the same way as "echo"?  Is this an American vs. Brit thing?
