I used to be obsessed, but it was kind of pointless. On one side, it's cool because it may force you to play the game in a way you normally wouldn't, which can add value to the game, and you can end up enjoying it more because of it. But, overall, it's a waste of time.

Also, I never cared about my score, just getting everything I could out of a game, so getting 100%. I didn't feel I finished the game until I did that, which is ridiculous.

It would be different if there was a better system in place, but the current system is abused. You have games like Avatar: The Last Airbender that the achievements are just pointless for. Then you have games where the achievements take so long, you might as well sell all your other game.

There's a difference between skill based achievements and time based achievements. Sure, after time you can probably get anything, but you shouldn't have to play the same game everyday for months just to get everything.

These days though, with the exception of some of my steam games that I play a lot, I completely ignore achievements. It's not worth the time to deal with them, and many of them are just pointless and frustrating.
