Motion controls have been a big factor this generation, in bringing in new people and new experiences, but it's not what takes top spot for me (it still needs more work).
My vote goes to DLC, but not just DLC as in extra content for games (which has been brilliant for some, and unfortunately abused by others), but DLC in the form of downloadable games on the consoles. These games have gotten a bigger market and much more attention by going on the consoles, and games like Critter Crunch and Flower are great games, that I have gotten at next to no cost when compared to big retail games!
And with regular DLC, you have games like Burnout Paradise (amazing support!), LittleBigPlanet (not that much DLC, but each pack has added new content and gameplay to the game and been of very high quality!), not to mention all the online games that recieve new maps and modes.
