CGI-Quality said: To answer your question, Lair had many things wrong with it that were detrimental to it's success, including reviews that spit on it. HEAVY RAIN also wasn't 'hyped to death', not really even on the internet. It received a modest amount of hype, with reviews that were extremely positive. It's a sleeper hit now. What it tells me is each fan-base goes for something specific to their liking. Maybe Wii fans didn't want an FPS, especially one from a non-proven franchise. Perhaps PlayStation fans wanted something fresh and innovative (very similar to Nintendo fans) and along comes critically acclaimed, HEAVY RAIN. Even now, Sony has to answer to HEAVY RAIN shortages (something that would have been laughed at just 2 weeks ago). The game became successful because of the story, the visuals, the way it's played (yes, that made a difference to many) and the fact that it was so well received by the critics. Today is a good day or the future of gaming of this nature. I mainly celebrate HEAVY RAIN's sales for that purpose, all else is moot. The game could have sold just one copy (my own) and it still would be where it is today on my gaming chart: #1. |
Exactly! Only here on VGChartz this one guy, whats his name? kept hyping it
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”
