In some ways, the game kind of feels like something they came up with due to the limitations of the N64. Same with 'Break the targets', however you can still manipulate that game to produce some challenge which is why they have kept it in (though I don't like how all of the levels are the same in Brawl).
I liked Board the Platforms as well, but it didn't really provide much in the way of a challenge after you memorized the pattern, nor did it show off the consoles features. Both of which Melee and Brawl were trying to do. Its literally just jumping on platforms.
