I love Nintendo.....but this wasn't bigger than the announcement of ANY game ever, because new info on existing games is not, nor ever shall be bigger than the announcement of any NEW game, in my opinion. New info is marketing, announcements are news.

Well what about the announcement of certain games America was waiting to get for forever?  Like Monster Hunter Tri and Dragon Quest IX which Nintendo is going to publish.  In my opinion, those announcements are as big as a 'new game' announcement because they are the actual announcement for the game in America and the release date all at the same time.  And they confirm the games will actually be coming here.

Sure, we all knew games like Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid: Other M were coming and an approx. date for them.  But games like Monter Hunter Tri and Dragon Quest IX were totally up in the air for months (and in the case of Dragon Quest IX, years).

announcement of NSMB Wii and Metroid and Mario Galaxy is the same as giving out dates of release for 3rd party games like Monster Hunter and DQ which we had known for months were coming this year. Seriously?

First off, a game announcement certainly has that 'wow' factor.  But it passes.  Pretty much a week after, if not sooner.

The next big 'announcement' for the game is its release date announcement.  And for some of these games, like the afore mentioned Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M, they had guaranteed American releases and approx. release dates.  As for other games, like again, the games I mentioned (Monster Hunter Tri and Dragon Quest IX), they not only didn't have estimates of when they'd be releasing, it was up in the air if they would even get a wester nrelease within the next year or at all.  Heck, their original publishers aren't even bringing them over, Nintendo is.

For those of us who were waiting for months for these games to even be CONFIRMED to be released in America, let alone have a release date, this is major news.  And you don't think these major million dollar third party games being published and released by Nintendo in America isn't a major announcement?  What, did they need to announce it at E3 for it to be bigger?

Also, I understand Monster Hunter Tri and Dragon Quest IX came out in Japan already.  But to untold numbers of people, these are going to be new games when Nintendo actually starts airing commercials for them.
