Actually in the reference to the 29 million Wii games they comment that its purchased by consumers not stores, they say that the 29 million consoles were purchased along with the 5.84 million Wii consoles

In addition, in less than five months since introduction, the company sold 5.84 million of its new Wii(TM) home video game systems globally, virtually every one snapped up immediately by consumers, along with nearly 29 million Wii games.

The "being snapped up immediately by customers" refers to the Wii console itself, not the Wii games mentioned after it.

But by having a comma and along indicates that the games were also sold to consumers, not retailers, and then the Palgn article also indicates the same thing

So 29m in sales but NOT to consumers as you quoted? Very interesting.

Nope the wording of the report indicates that the games were sold to consumers as well, if you don't believe me then show me the real WW software sales for the Wii
