Seeing as Blu-Rays are still so expensive, I haven't bought a film in a while (I'm not going to buy DVD just to repurchase when Blu-Ray comes down in price). |
Best buy just in their weekly ad had a few Blu-rays for $17, a few were only a couple weeks old. Also most new releases are only about $22 at Best Buy, Which is what DVD new releases used to beabout 3 years ago. So they are cheap.

Blu-Rays are still pretty damn expensive here (Ireland). I know those graphs are for the US, but I doubt the scenario in terms of marketshare could be that much different here. Last time I was in HMV (which is the closest place to me with a large selection), they will still €30 or so, easily €10-20 more expensive that DVDs. Most new release DVDs seem to come out for €15.99-€19.99, but there are some cheaper ones and they drop in price much quicker.

Wow, those prices are ridiculous, I can see why people would be holding out over there

That's not to say we don't get deals from time to time. For Xmas 2008, I got The Dark Knight/Batman Begins Blu-Ray pack for €17.99 I think. But, if Blu-Rays are only selling when there is a deal, they'll never get the marketshare needed to replace DVD. BluRay needs to be competitive day in, day out, which it isn't here.
