Note that the speaker is talking about graphics -- which he may have a point. Stylized efforts can certainly make games look better. What is true is that if you release a game with realistic graphics, someone is going to compare it to the output of the PS3/Xbox 360 -- and the Wii just is not the same. Of course, in most cases, people are not maximizing the Wii and often are not putting effort into art direction, which can help with the realistic approach. But the stylized approach requires the good art direction, which makes the game better.
Also note that this person is not about content per se. "Realistic" was not a code word for "mature" or "fighting" or anything like that. It was a code name for a graphical approach. And that is all.
